Western Montana IEFA Showcase- Pablo May 17
When: May 17, 2013
Where: SKC at Pablo
WHAT: A
day designed to motivate and showcase IEFA efforts in the WM-CSPD
Region. All participants will be treated to time with Julie Cajune as
they explore the Hell Gate Treaty through dramatic readings of a play
and discuss about the importance of oral tradition and storytelling.
Time will be spent seeing “bright spots” of IEFA from across the region
from classroom based IEFA initiatives to school-wide efforts Lunch
will be provided, along with time to network with colleagues. At the
end of the day together, participants should have ideas and a plan for
future work at their sites. More Details Agenda
COST: EARLY BIRD Extended to May 1: $15 per person; SKC students/ faculty- FREE; Lunch included.
After May 1- $35- individual; $25 per person if part of school team of 3 or more; SKC students/ faculty- FREE Lunch included.

Art of Storytelling: Plains Indian Perspective
- Who? Teachers
who like to incorporate all content areas into their instruction to
meet the expectations of Art, IEFA and the Montana Common Core. This
training is appropriate for, and has materials for K-12.
- What: This
workshop is designed to help support the implementation of the
materials created by OPI and the Montana Historical Society. They are
gorgeous materials and all participants will receive the full packet
including artwork, lesson plans, supporting PowerPoints, and connections
to standards. Participants will experience some of the lessons and
have time for planning. Activities to include, but not limited to
“Winter Count,” “Hide Stories,” “Ledger Art,” as well as invitations to
write to persuade, inform, and entertain. If attending, consider
bringing your own colored pencils and/or markers. Some will be provided,
but if you have a personal preference, you’re welcome to bring your own
supplies.

OPI has developed a resource to provide guidance for instruction that
incorporates the Indian Education for All (IEFA) curriculum resources
aligned with the Montana Common Core Standards. The IEFA Companion Guide can be found here. Resources are aligned with OPI Teaching units for grades K-5 .. More are coming soon!
